Plain answers, kept where you can find them.
§ 01
Getting started
Do I need to be a certain age?
No. The youngest useful moment to start a vestry is the moment anyone depends on you. Most early members are in their thirties.
What if I don't have a will yet?
The Plan Builder guides you through a draft for your state, and a partnered attorney reviews it before finalization. Attorney review is included on Household and Legacy plans.
How long does it take to set up?
The first useful pass is about forty minutes. Most people spread setup over a few evenings. Progress saves automatically and we email you the next prompt.
§ 02
Privacy & access
Can Vestry read my documents?
No. Your documents are encrypted on your device before they reach our servers. We hold ciphertext only.
Who else can see what's in my vault?
Only the people you invite, and only to the rooms you grant them. Every view is logged with a timestamp and reported back to you.
What if Vestry gets subpoenaed?
We can only provide encrypted data; decryption is impossible from our side. Beginning Q1 2027, we will publish transparency reports describing the volume and outcomes of any such requests.
§ 03
Stewards & family
What happens when I pass away?
Your named stewards are notified. Each one receives access only to the rooms you have assigned them — never more.
Can I change my stewards later?
Yes, anytime. You can set expirations, partial access, and trigger-based rules. Major changes use a two-key confirmation.
Will my family know how to use it?
Stewards receive printed instructions and a guided first-time experience. The product is designed to be readable by people who have never opened it before.
§ 04
Money & cancellation
What if I cancel?
Your documents are yours. You can export everything as encrypted PDFs and a plain-text register. There is no penalty and no friction.
Will the price go up later?
Existing members keep the rate at which they joined. Price changes apply only to new members.
Is this legal advice?
No — Vestry is not a law firm. Attorney review sessions included on Household and Legacy plans constitute actual legal guidance from a licensed attorney in your state.
